Terms of Service

Last Updated: September 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pondchat, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Pondchat is a browser-based communication service for peer-to-peer video, audio, screen sharing, text chat, and file sharing. No account or registration is required. Rooms are created by visiting or sharing a link (for example, https://pondchat.com/your-room-name), or by AI agents and integrations via the public mint API POST /api/agent/pond (see agent-pond.md).

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. Up to six participants may join a single room.

Media (video, audio, screen share)

Video, audio, and screen-share streams are transmitted in real time between participants using WebRTC. We do not record, transcribe, or permanently store media on our servers. Pondchat offers no recording or server-side export — files move only directly between participants when each recipient accepts.

When a direct peer connection cannot be established, encrypted media may be relayed through third-party TURN infrastructure (Cloudflare). Relayed media is not retained by us.

Text chat

Text chat is encrypted on the client using a key derived from the room name. Anyone with the room link can decrypt chat history. This is shared-room encryption, not individual end-to-end encryption between users.

Recent chat messages may sit on the server only while the pond is occupied (up to 50 messages), then that copy is wiped. Your browser may also keep a local copy in IndexedDB, which is cleared when you leave the room.

Signaling

WebRTC connection setup (offers, answers, ICE candidates) is relayed through our WebSocket signaling service during an active session. This signaling traffic is ephemeral and is not stored as a permanent log.

Optional features

Screen sharing requires an explicit browser permission and can be stopped at any time. Shared content is subject to the same peer-to-peer rules as camera video.

Noise cancellation (when enabled) processes your microphone audio locally in the browser using Web Audio and WASM. Processed audio is sent to peers; raw audio is not uploaded to Pondchat servers for this feature.

File sharing sends files peer-to-peer over encrypted WebRTC data channels (up to 100 MB per file). Files are never uploaded to, stored on, or scanned by our servers — each recipient must accept a transfer before bytes flow. You are solely responsible for the content you send and for verifying received files before opening them.

3. User Conduct

You agree not to use the service to:

  • Transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defaming, vulgar, obscene, or libelous.
  • Share screens containing sensitive, private, or confidential information of third parties without their consent.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers.
  • Abuse automated access (for example flooding room creation, bypassing rate limits, or using agent/API minting to harass others).
  • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.

3a. AI Agents and Automated Mint

AI agents may create web rooms anonymously through POST /api/agent/pond, subject to IP rate limits. The same room rules apply (participant cap, ephemeral chat ciphertext, P2P media, no server recording). Humans join via the returned room URL. Agent mint does not grant Telegram Mini App host privileges. See /auth.md.

Agents may also participate inside rooms: post and read chat via the MCP tools (send_message, get_messages) and join as regular WebRTC media peers. The room link is the capability — anyone or anything holding it can join, read recent chat, and post. A read-only agent leaves no visible participant marker; treat room links as secrets.

4. Age Restrictions

The service is not intended for children under the age of 13. By using the service, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Connection quality depends on your network, device, and browser. We are not responsible for the content of communications between users.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pondchat shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages resulting from your use of the service.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Your continued use of the service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
